# BEP-20

The native token standard for Binance Smart Chain (BSC) is BEP-20.

The BEP-20 standard was designed to be fully compatible with the most common Ethereum token standard, ERC-20. You can think of these standards as a set of rules for tokens that defines how they can be spent and who can spend them.

To carry out any activity on BSC, you would need to pay the transaction fees (gas) through BEP20 BNB. Additionally, you would need different BEP20 tokens for staking, trading, etc.

Just like Ethereum, it is possible to wrap crypto like Bitcoin and others on BSC too. Using a bridge, you as a user can wrap your crypto (BTC, ETH, USDT, XRP), on the BSC in the form of BEP-20 tokens.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.bitdrive.finance/glossary/bep-20.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
